The Immigration act of 1924 epitomize this aspect of the subject, which was largely based on the IQ test developed by the psychologist Gould and as a result immigration was restricted for people belonging to eastern and southern Europe. Over the years, there has been many restriction imposed on the immigrants coming into the primarily on Muslim immigrants. This became normal ever since the recent terrorist threat that was posed to it and the terrorist attack on the world trade center on 11th September, 2001. The attacks were perpetrated by a Muslim terrorist organization and as a result there were heavy immigration restrictions imposed on Muslims, migrating to the United States and those who made were detained for several years. (Bailey, 2005, P.p 250-252)
“The terrorist attacks that destroyed New York City’s world trade center and part of pentagon on September 11th, 2001, also has a serious impact on the country’s response to immigration” (Page 177). The current immigration policy has been now dictated by the current security situation of the country and as a result a department of homeland security was established to oversee and screen the people entering and leaving the country. Therefore, over the last few years there has been a great change in the number of immigrants to the country, the places they come from and this aspect has greatly influenced the economic condition and the social accord in the country.
